About Alpha Eta Chapter

Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc.(SIA) was founded in 1990 with the goal of empowering women and offering them an opportunity to unite in the interest of leadership, community service, social/cultural awareness and sisterhood. Since then, we have made great strides in improving the awareness of Latino culture and fostering success through higher education. We are constantly working to promote diversity, encouraging individuality within both the Hermandad and the general population. Women of all backgrounds are invited to explore the opportunity to join us for a lifetime of excellence.

The SIA light came to Texas through Baylor University in the Fall semester of 2003. The Alpha Eta chapter was chartered at Baylor on November 2, 2003. The efforts here have lead to the establishment of chapters and colonies throughout the Texas region. At Baylor, we work towards our goals by supporting other multicultural organizations  and engaging the Waco community through service. Currently, there are seven undergraduate Hermanas at Baylor University:

Abby Chavez - H. Provocante

Chantel Garcia - H. Diferencia

Thalina Garcia - H. Fiducia

Cassandra Gutierrez - H. Accetta

Wendy Hinojosa - H. Lepida

Ileana Sanchez - H. Increible

Sonia Sandoval - H. Polemista
